Our Philosophy 

At The Math Guru, we believe that tutoring has the power to change students’ lives✨Indeed, it did for our original guru, Vanessa, aka the Lady Gaga of math education! She went from hating school to loving it to earning her Master’s in Math Education. Her thesis was entitled: Imagining a world where Paris Hilton loves mathematics — seriously. 

As a parent, you want your kid to be happy and healthy. Kids want to have fun and get their work done. No one understands this better than Vanessa and The Math Guru team! We’ve been there ourselves, and now we help students ACE the Ontario Curriculum.

We tutor math and science in a way that is life-changing...and that's not an exaggeration!

We help students realize that, no matter what their experience has been to date or what they have been told, they can do ANYTHING in the world — even math and science! Finding the best way for each student to learn math and science is a gateway to changing their beliefs around what they are capable of. That’s what we do best. 

Our approach centres around the idea that ALL kids can excel at math and science, regardless of their age, background, interests, or past grades. Our tutors come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, making them ideal role-models and mentors. Our team is proof that there is no such thing as a “math person” or a “science person”! 

We know that with expert training, empathetic guidance, and one-on-one mentoring, your student can feel like anything is possible. Yes, even math and science!
